Guru N. Rao, Ph.D., is Chief Data and Analytics Officer at FBAlliance Insurance, where he leads the firm’s three strategic areas: data and data governance, analytics and data science, and insurance product innovation and development. One of his primary mission to deliver timely, detailed and “speed-of-thought” information to the entire enterprise to support sound business decisions, enabling faster and better outcomes for the company and its investors.
Guru has extensive experience providing strategic and operations leadership in analytics, data science, modeling and risk management. In recent years, he has: (1) established and managed large centers of excellence for analytics, research and product development, (2) built high-performance global teams for data and analytics in the financial services industry, and (3) led initiatives to accelerate innovation through formalized process, employee engagement, and partnerships.
Guru’s educational qualifications include a Masters and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters in Engineering Management (MEM) from Northwestern University. Guru also serves on the advisory board of Northwestern’s MEM graduate program.
